Call for Participation in a Research Project

With the growing number of people connecting to the Internet from home "the Net" has become a part of our everyday lives. We are changing the Net and the Net is changing us.

A University of Calgary research team invites home-based users of the Internet in Calgary to take part in a project looking for answers to the following questions.

  • How do individual users make sense of this new communication medium?
  • How do they integrate it into the activities of their daily lives?
  • We are specifically interested in learning about the experiences of those users who maintain a blog.

The research will involve a focus group (a moderated small- group discussion structured around a set of questions) that will be held at the University of Calgary campus at a time convenient for all potential participants.

If you are interested in the project and would consider participating, please e-mail the principal investigator Dr. Maria Bakardjieva, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Communication and Culture at bakardji@ucalgary.ca or graduate research assistant Georgia Gaden at calgaryblogresearch@gmail.com.

Note: This research is sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. There will be a $30 compensation for those who participate.
