Hi everyone,

Happy New Year! I know. A bit late to actually continue saying that. I'm sorry I haven't had the time to schedule the January meetup, and I had a quick thought of hijacking Third Tuesday (since there's no 3T for January) but settled for the Third Wednesday (Third Thursday is taken by Vancouver Entrepreneur Meetup). That was more or less the show of hands I got.

For this particular meetup, I have decided to start the year with a quick overview of the landscape of blogging and social media in Vancouver. As the organizer of the meetup, newcomers (and some more seasoned members of the community) ask me if there is a central repository or directory of Vancouver blogs.

In my experience, there is no such thing, but the wonderful thing about VBM is that it allows for bloggers of all walks of life to come together and share. So, I'll be doing a 2 minute talk about what the Vancouver Blogger Meetup is, my goals for the VBM for this 2009 and then my hope is to go around the room so that people can introduce themselves and share a bit about their blogs.

This activity is inspired by the recent breakfast organized by Jeff Pulver (one of the funders of Voice Over IP). While we won't be doing "real life social tagging", my hope is to have a fluid conversation amongst newbies and seasoned bloggers.

As always, feel free to email me with any concerns or questions - I am setting up the location as we speak.

Best wishes,
Raul

Raul, I suspect it won't be loud in there, the audio is usually music, or television, and if it is loud we can ask to have the volume down. I have been there a lot of times, for live shows, which was why I suggested the venue, but I don't suspect there will be live music on Wed. Since there is no local games, I don't think there will be a sports event to contend with. The menu is good, the food is good, and the staff are super nice.

I know some people might be worried about The End Cafe being loud. Hopefully it won't! :) I'll check with them beforehand though.

I'll be there. I have no idea why I've been so antisocial lately, unless it's that pesky "getting my work done" addiction I have. Will be bringing a couple of Fearless City people too, probably.
