There
are a number - over 40 on the list now Jason. And we've been seeking out a
suitable venue for a meeting next month. I'm looking forward to meeting
those who can come along and hopefully we can make it a regular event, so it
will be good to see you once you're in Melbourne.
Welcome!

Subject: Re: [blog-378] Melbourne Bloggers
Meetup
Hello Darren,
I'm not exactly sure who started this group or what it's done so far
but I've been talking about a Melbourne bloggers meetup for years now and never
did anything about it. Today I was talking with Alister Cameron (a member of
this group) and we thought perhaps it was time to do something.
>> I'm moving to Melbourne in July and would very much like to get
involved in arranging meetings/events/projects around web design and
blogging.
I went to a Sydney meetup late last year and it was a great night -
they really are getting to know each other and are having some fun times. Some
are even collaborating on projects - I was jealous and wanted to do something
here.
>> I attended an excellent meetup in London for web professionals -
over a hundred people, fairly well-known speakers, fast free wi-fi and
sponsorship that payed the bar bill. Lots of good discussion g oing on.
So when we saw this group needed a moderator I signed up and thought
I'd put the word out to you that I was hoping we could get together. Hope I'm
not stepping on anyone's toes - if I am I'm happy to transfer this over to
whoever started it up to run.
>> I was going to apply but not actually being in the country yet,
decided against it! From July I'd be happy to help with organising, promotion
etc
In the mean time - how about some introductions? Reply to this email
with your vital stats :-)
>> I'm Jason King. I'm a web designer who works exclusively with
charities. I customise WordPress to their needs and train them to use
blogs/cms. I currently live on a narrowboat in the UK and blog about life
afloat at
www.afloat.org.uk. From July
2007 I'll be living and working in Melbourne. My website is at
