Hi everyone,

STOP PRESS - venue now confirmed as Shish in Old Street.

Another month, another LBM. Who'd have thought this one would have come around so soon.. but hopefully you will all be recharged after the Easter break and will be ready for another night of blog related chat with some of London's finest bloggers.

This month our meetup is being supported by the charity Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. Haven’t heard of it before? Well as a quick intro, it was setup by Ralph Lauren in 1994 as the fashion industries response to breast cancer. The campaign raises funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s leading breast cancer charity and to date has raised over nine million quid, nice!

Why are they coming to the meetup?

Well, essentially they would like to talk to us about what they are doing, but also about how they are using online communication tactics to drive their campaign. Alongside what should be a really interesting talk they will be giving away some t-shirts, 1gb USBs cards, providing some snacks and drinks, and offering one lucky winner the chance to grab £100 worth of gift vouchers for one of the retailers that supports the charity (possibly TopShop or M&S).

What do you have to do to win this prize....? It’s simple answer the following question on the Londonbloggers.net blog in 100 words or less:

Why should charities use online communications to support their causes?

Simple. Just add your entry as a comment on the blog before the closing deadline of 12 midday on Monday 27th April and the winner will be announced at the meetup.

Don't forget to RSVP for a place too. There will be the usual great crowd of phenomenally interesting people to meet, from brand new bloggers, to seasoned hacks and everyone in between.

Look forward to seeing you all on the 28th.

Cheers,
Andy

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who came last night and for the supportive messages today. Fashion Targets Breast Cancer team really enjoyed the evening and we felt we got a great deal out of it. Thank you for all your tips and advice and please feel free to bombard me with lots of e-mail about how we can build and build our online communications!

This was my first London Bloggers Meetup, what a lively and interesting group! Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is a great initiative and I was even able to share a few tips with them, hope it helps their marvelous project. Great venue, event was very well organised.

    •  I enjoyed my first LBM meet up. I talked to quite a few people and one person was more interesting than the next. I am all for the sponsor and was happy to give them their time; a bit surprised their message was not terribly interactive. Still, a good cause and an interesting topic to blog about, nice people. My one suggestion would be to have some sort of device or structure that would allow you to meet more people. There are various games and ways to do this, and, I think everybody would appreciate an opportunity to sort of scan the group and see who they'd like to spend more time talking to. Thank you Andy for doing the organizing!
    •  Thanks to the FTBC'ers, what a worthy cause. Your talk was interesting and contribution fantastic. Congratulations to Derry for winning the vouchers.

Wonderful group once again, thanks so much to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer for sponsoring.
    •  This was my first meetup experience - I enjoyed it. Everyone I met was interesting, friendly and open to helping others solve their blogging issues.
    •  Very nice turnout last night nice to see new faces too!
    •  As a first time experience, this was great. There were very few boundaries when it came to speaking to complete strangers - something other tweet ups for example, could learn from. The buzz in the room was electric and it was all for a good cause. My only issue was the speed of the bar staff, but what does that matter when you're having a stimulating conversation?!
    •  Very well organised and loads of new people this time. Great speakers too :)
    •  Really enjoyed it, nice presentation with a charity who showed how to make the most of web-marketing, womm and social media. And I won one of the T-shirts!! Yeah!!!
