Welcome to the Bloggers Meetup - a social for bloggers to get out from behind their screens, meet other bloggers and enjoy a couple of beers.
We are being supported this time by our friends at mobile social networking site M3. They would like to show you all what they are about and get your feedback. They are also buying a handful of drinks for the first 20 to turn up - so it pays to be on time.
As requested by various group members I've arranged for a couple of members to stand up and talk at the meetup. Consequently the venue has moved back to the Coach & Horses which will make it easier for the speakers.
We have plenty of new members this month so I suspect it will be a lively meetup. I look forward to seeing the new faces and of course all the regulars on the 24th.
“ Very nice meetup, some interesting presentations (although just one presentation per event would allow us to have more time to socialise with other bloggers) ”
“ The presentations this time around were fantastic (thanks Xavier, Improbulus, Tony, Tonya and Mickey) and they sparked some interesting conversation. Thanks everyone for coming and making this meetup such a good one! (although perhaps a few less presenters next time). ”
“ Why no decent beer at the bar?
The presentation on comments was useful. No problem with a few minutes from m3 in exchange for a beer (though see above.) But I could have done without the other two - the stuff on the thing in B'ham would have been better on a small flier, and I didn't feel the SEO stuff was useful - it shouldn't really have been a presentation - as the speaker herself said.
C&A is a much nicer venue IMO. ”
“ 4 presentations, that was three too much. The first one was decent, engaging and interesting. The second was bearable, although a bit patronising... But the last two were too much, and to a certain extend useless.
I am sorry for this feedback, as I am sure that you gave a lot of effort to get these people in, but what I really appreciate usually is to be able to exchange with other blogger. And with these presentations, it was bearly possible, even if I was there very early. Ultimately, I had only one thing in mind when they were done: leaving.
As a key learning: restrict yourself to one presentation, and let the rest of the evening for conversations... ”
