Hi LBM’ers,

It’s that time! With only 8 days to go until the next London Bloggers Meetup, it’s time to get online and save yourself a place. Once again it looks like we’re going to have a great evening!

Why’s that you might ask? Well first of all we have two great speakers joining us, both of whom are LBM regulars.

You’re going to hear from Judith Lewis of SEO Chicks all about how to SEO your blog. If you want more readers you will definitely enjoy hearing from Judith. She will be talking about the importance of keyword selection and placement, copywriting tactics, linkbait, Google analytics and more. I think this will be immensely valuable to bloggers, new and old hands a like.

Also, LBM favourite Timinator will be taking to the stage to talk about his adventures in blogging. Tim will be covering everything from his writing on London and science, to using blogging as therapy and general blog tips. I’m looking forward to someone heckling Tim for a change…

That’s not all! Oh no, along with two great speakers, I’m pleased to announce that Havana Cultura is sponsoring our evening.

In case you haven’t come across Havana Cultura before, it’s a global art initiative from Havana Club rum to introduce the world to the fabulous culture in Havana. As part of the campaign they are running a Twitter based competition - the ‘Havana Twitter Treasure Hunt’. Using clues posted on Twitter, followers will virtually explore the city of Havana on www.havana-cultura.com to find the answers to enter a competition. The first prize..? two tickets to Gilles Peterson’s exclusive Havana Cultura album launch party in Paris on 26th November. Nice!

Of course, with Havana comes Rum and a ready supply of rum based cocktails and soft drinks for you all to enjoy. There’s more, but you’ll have to wait for some special surprises!

Register now to save yourself a spot. I look forward to seeing you on the 6th.

Cheers,
Andy

Stop the press. The London Bloggers Meetup is back.

To celebrate their 10th Birthday, eBay.co.uk is coming to the party and they're bearing gifts. The UK's number one online marketplace is sponsoring this month's gathering and they've hidden some extra special deals on their site exclusively for you and your readers... more details to come on the night.

There will also be a raffle, with prizes including a Dell Netbook and some mobile internet dongles, and of course eBay have offered to buy everyone a drink.

What's that? No, seriously, I'm telling the truth, eBay really are doing all of this for the London Bloggers Meetup.

So what are you waiting for, RSVP now to save your place and join us for a drink.

Of course there will also be the usual blend of blog related chat with some of London and the UK's most interesting bloggers. It's a perfect place if you are just starting out in blogging and want some pointers, or if you are looking for ideas about how to grow your readership, or if you just want to meet the person behind a blog you always read.

I don't have a guest speaker this month, but if you fancy your five minutes of fame and would like to talk about your bog I'd be delighted to hear from you.

The venue is the Ember bar in Farringdon. Very close to the tube and with plenty of space. I promise, no Sauna this time around!

Thanks all, see you on the 8th.

Hi folks,

It's time for another edition of the London Bloggers Meetup and I'm delighted to say it's another one where you can expect a couple of drinks courtesy of our event sponsors. So don't think because it's August we're all on holiday, oh no, our friends at that venerable coffee institution Starbucks have decided to treat us to some liquid refreshments - both with and without caffeine.

We have two guest speakers this month too, Matt Brown from Londonist and Chris Tradget from Buy.at. Matt will be talking all about his experiences blogging for the fantastic Londonist.com and Chris will be telling us all how we could be better monetising our blogs.

Of course I also expect the usual blend of friendly social chat with lots of fantatically interesting people. The London Bloggers Meetup really is for bloggers - whether you have just written your first post, or your 1000th post, or indeed anywhere in between. Complete beginners and new members are also always welcome.

Thanks all, look forward to speaking to many of you on the 4th August.

Best,
Andy

Folks, save the date, Tuesday 7th July 2009!

Why? Because it’s the date for the next edition of the world famous London Bloggers Meetup. I say world famous, it could be, you never know. I haven’t asked everyone to be honest...

So what’s the world go to do with anything you might ask?

Well, this meetup is being sponsored by our good friends at Lastminute.com. They will be releasing exclusive details on the summer promotion they are about to launch and in particular would love to meet with any budding travel writers or keen travellers, so please encourage any of your fellow bloggers or friends who might be interested to register and come along to find out more.

However, if you can’t wait until then to hear more, here are some clues…

How often have you sat day-dreaming at your desk wondering what you’d be doing if you didn’t have to put up with the 9-5 grind? Explore the world? Sample the best of global culture? Make the most of good old Great Britain? Lay on a beach in the baking heat without a care in the world? Meet new and interesting people in places you never knew you would visit? Maybe even doing something completely different and trying your hand as a travel writer? Perhaps you’d do all of these things, if only you had the chance…

Say no more LBM’ers, I hope that has got your imagination running. To recap: Lastminute.com, travel, writing, competition... you get the picture.

Of course there will be the usual blend of blog related chat, networking, fun and frivolities. Oh and Lastminute.com are also going to be buying a few beers, so get yourselves along early and enjoy a nice, cold, thirst quenching beverage (beer, wine, coke, whatever you fancy really). It looks like we might even have an interesting talk too, more details TBC.

Hope to see you all on the 7th !!

We’re rapidly approaching the last Tuesday of the month which can mean only one thing...it’s time for another London Bloggers Meetup. We’ve got a couple of fantastic speakers lined up for this month which should make for an interesting evening..:

1. Established author, blogger and new member of the group Flloyd Smith would like to talk about the opportunities for bloggers in book writing. He’s going to introduce how your blog content could be the basis of a book, or how it could inspire a book, or qualify you as an expert who could put your thoughts down on paper. I’m sure there must be a few of us with thoughts about book writing, and one or two who have already made the jump. For more info on Flloyd, check out his pen name Bud E. Smith on Amazon.

2. The second short talk is going to be about the forthcoming Refugee Week from a long standing LBM member Jaz Cummins. Refugee Week is in its 11th year and is running a campaign this year called Simple Acts. Far from the usual fund raising campaign, Simple Acts is all about participation. More info on this from Jaz, but it looks like a very worthwhile cause.

You’d think that would be all, but it looks like we may well have a really great competition launching on the evening too. I can’t give anything away as yet, but if you like weekend trips away and blogging, you’ll probably want to get involved in some of this action...

See you on the 26th!

Cheers,
Andy

Hi everyone,

STOP PRESS - venue now confirmed as Shish in Old Street.

Another month, another LBM. Who'd have thought this one would have come around so soon.. but hopefully you will all be recharged after the Easter break and will be ready for another night of blog related chat with some of London's finest bloggers.

This month our meetup is being supported by the charity Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. Haven’t heard of it before? Well as a quick intro, it was setup by Ralph Lauren in 1994 as the fashion industries response to breast cancer. The campaign raises funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s leading breast cancer charity and to date has raised over nine million quid, nice!

Why are they coming to the meetup?

Well, essentially they would like to talk to us about what they are doing, but also about how they are using online communication tactics to drive their campaign. Alongside what should be a really interesting talk they will be giving away some t-shirts, 1gb USBs cards, providing some snacks and drinks, and offering one lucky winner the chance to grab £100 worth of gift vouchers for one of the retailers that supports the charity (possibly TopShop or M&S).

What do you have to do to win this prize....? It’s simple answer the following question on the Londonbloggers.net blog in 100 words or less:

Why should charities use online communications to support their causes?

Simple. Just add your entry as a comment on the blog before the closing deadline of 12 midday on Monday 27th April and the winner will be announced at the meetup.

Don't forget to RSVP for a place too. There will be the usual great crowd of phenomenally interesting people to meet, from brand new bloggers, to seasoned hacks and everyone in between.

Look forward to seeing you all on the 28th.

Cheers,
Andy

To meet with other bloggers for great conversation, some drinks and nibbles courtesy of our friends at the Equality & Human Rights Commission and the usual relaxed good times.

The Commission will also be talking a little about what they have been working on recently which should prove to be pretty interesting.

Hi all,

Raise a glass this St Patrick’s Day with Bushmills and Guinness

This March we have two fantastic #LBMs coming up. With St Patrick's fast approaching, the team at Diageo, owners of Guinness and Bushmill’s whisky, have invited the #LBM community to kick start this year's celebrations by raising a glass with them at their London bar on Tuesday 10th March.

As we have come to love with Diageo, they have arranged for a trained Bushmill’s mixologist to share his whisky knowledge and shake up a selection of delicious Bushmill’s cocktails, recommending which drink most suits your individual taste. Not only that, for the beer lovers amongst you, a Guinness expert will be on hand to share his Guinness expertise in their 250th anniversary year, showcasing the various types of Guinness and providing top tips to ensure the perfect pint of black stuff every time. There will also be a personalized Guinness gift winging its way to you after the event too.

Oh and did I mention the opportunity on the night to win two tickets to the Guinness Premiership Rugby final being played at Twickenham on Saturday 16th May, which will hopefully feature the Leicester Tigers... all you have to do is pop your moo / other card in a hat on the night and the lucky winner will be drawn at random.

Wow, so what's the second event this month?

Well, more details to be released soon, but after the exclusive Guinness party we'll be hosting a larger event with a very interesting and thought provoking presentation on the 24th March. Keep your eyes open for the details, but you can register for both events at the Meetup page now.

Look forward to seeing everyone on either of our two #LBMs this month.

Cheers and happy St Pat's everyone!

Andy

Well, not only has the year started with a fantastic covering of snow, but another fantastic bloggers meetup. The New Year cheer was attended by over 50 LBM group members with plenty of new faces along with a handful of regulars. Thanks to everyone who came along and also to Tony Scott for his intro to Twestival.

The next meetup will be on Tueday 24th February and is being supported by our good friends from Bacardi Breezer. Not only is Bacardi going to be buying everyone a drink or two, they’re also running a fantastic competition to win vouchers for department store House of Fraser. How can I win these vouchers I hear you say... it’s all explained on the blog.

The venue has been finalised and as always it's in zone 1 and within easy reach of a tube station. We also now have a guest speaker in Simone Brummelhuis the founder of The Next Women blog.

Thanks and see you all on the 24th.
